April 13th, Salon Reception and Fundraiser
March 27th, Environmental Film Festival
April Earth Day

ON THE HORIZON - The months of March and April will be very busy for the Earth Conservation Corps as new Corps members are enrolled, stewardship and service projects are implemented, environmental education and on-the-river eco tours are scheduled.

The Earth Conservation Corps will host about 500 volunteers during two service projects in the month of March and several more as we begin to prepare for Earth Day in April with our community partners.

On Saturday, March 27, the Earth Conservation Corps and two of its past graduates will be featured in a 25-minute film at the Environmental Film Festival, entitled, RIVER OF HOPE: WELCOME TO OUR CITY, MR. PRESIDENT. The film was produced by ECC founder, Robert Nixon with Stephanie Slewka. Daryl Wallace, current ECC employee also spent countless hours assisting with production and editing. The event will take place at the Science Institution starting at 2:30 p.m.

Thanks to some of the most dynamic board members, we will have our second "Salon" fundraising event on Tuesday, April 13th, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the home of Eugene Goldman & Brooke Byers to raise money in support of our Corps members and programs. A very special thank you to our gracious hosts, our board members, and long-time supporters who are working hard to make this event a huge success!

Finally, special thanks and gratitude to the best leadership team in the District. I appreciate your commitment to our mission, dedication and passion for ensuring Corps members and volunteers have a quality experience while in our care!

My Very Best To All, Annette

Please help us accomplish our mission "to empower our endangered youth to reclaim the Anacostia River, their communities and their lives," by registering and purchasing tickets to attend the April 13th event, or by making a tax deductible contribution. Our board, staff and Corps members appreciate and need your support. Thank You!!
